they are currently tied with the Nationals for the best batting average in the entire MLB, and they are currently second behind the Dodgers for the best ERA in the entire MLB (they are first in both categories in the AL).
just some other numbers

13th in offensive WAR
15th in wOBA
10th in wRC+

5th in pitching WAR
6th in fip
7th in xfip
7th in k-bb%

The Astros are also playing over their heads quite a bit according to BaseRuns. They are probably the best team in the AL as of right now but I doubt they keep this insane pace and win close to 110+ games

Are these for the Astros? Fangraphs has them first in wRC+, first in wOBA and first in their offensive rating component to WAR

Woh I'm on crack or something

For whatever reason it directed me to 2016. The total WAR numbers looked a little too high across the board

I was gonna say, I hadn't looked at their team sabermetrics but couldn't believe they ranked that low in these categories. I think they'll end up between 100-105 wins

I think with this insane start getting like 102 wins seems pretty reasonable

Interesting note. Padres pitching has actually accumulated positive WAR so far. They were projected to straight up put up a negative value

Yes I've been following them as I always do since I moved to the Houston area in 1998, and it just really occurred to me how blistering the pace was they were on so I got curious to see how it compared percentage wise to the greatest seasons ever. I couldn't believe no one had ever in baseball's long history ever gone over 116 wins.

In no sense was I trying to predict anything.

Might be the best stretch in Astros history and they have already run away with division.

It absolutely won't happen, but Texas was nine games back of Houston in 2015 on July 20th and won the division. Nothing is done in early June regarding division races.

I believe LAA is 13 games back as of tonight (Tuesday, June 6).

This Houston team is damn good though and have built their mental toughness to withstand a steep drop. I will be shocked if they don't win 100+ games once they reshuffle their bullpen and move Giles out of the closer spot and add another arm in the rotation.
