I played for Lemons from 2002-2006. I did not play varsity until my Senior year. I never got pissed at him. I served my role and was one of three seniors to graduate on our 2006 teams (we started out with 12 our freshman year). He was a tough coach, but I respect the guy more now that Im out in the real world. I run into him every now and then and we catch up. He has a great family. St. Amant will not be the same. I wish him success in whatever he chooses to do.

Believe what you want dude, but I had nothing to do with St. Amant. I went to school in Donaldsonville. When I played legion, that is what the guys told me about him. I have never heard anyone say anything good about him other than the people on here. From what I am hearing, this had nothing to do with his baseball knowledge but about how much of an a-hole he was. And not like ripping kids asses, a-hole, but fricking with their heads. So you might want to get your facts straight ****.

JartFart Do you know the man? I would say you do not. Then quit hiding on here bashing a man of such high integrity. You from Donaldsonville. A lot of good baseball there in recent years lol.

So the words that come directly from their mouth is not first hand accounts?

I do not know the man but I am going to say that you have never played for him. Maybe you know him personally but you have not experienced him in that setting. So don't sit here and try to defend the man when you have not a clue what is going on because you don't. The success out of Donaldsonville has pretty much paralleled what has happened at St. Amant to. Nothing.

I believe I was corrected and Coach Lemons may have won 4 State Titles at the 5A level. That would give him either the most, or at worst, 2nd most with Glen Cecchini at Barbe. Talent alone does not win a state championship. If you could go back to each one of those titles, I'm 100% certain that you would not see St. Amant make it throught he 5 game single elimination tournament just riding the arm of one pitcher. There have been schools to use one pitcher for 4 or 5 of the playoff games in a 10 or 11 day span, but Coach Lemons never did that. That's a fact.

Now, I will admit that I have never been to any of St. Amant's practices. But what I have seen during ball games in Coach Lemons' interaction between players and umpires during the games, in no way hints at any "verbal abuse". It is impossible to have every single player from a 20 year career to love you. Do you think all of Skip Bertman's, Nick Saban's, Pat Summit's players felt the "love" after every mistake? I have seen the above coaches rip into players, but I've never seen it from Coach Lemons. Now I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, but even if there is a little verbal riding of a player, I'm quite certain that the goal is to make the player better and able to handle tough spots in big ball games.

All you need to know about baseball parents is that I have heard multiple stories from high school coaches that won a state championship, only to have a parent conference in the following days from a parent that wasn't happy with their son's playing time.

Lemons was old school. Back in the day if your coach told you 'get your glove down dumb arse', 'make a good throw stupid' or 'you played like a bunch of scared pussies today', we didn't cry back to momma, we didn't see a therapist. We worked harder to get better. I played for EA in the 90's so I'm no Lemons homer and I'm not scorned he didn't play me. He knows the game but can be a hard arse. Parents hate him because they can't control his program. Well Grenfell let parents in his program at EA and they got in and ran him off.

Like him or not, he was a winner on the field and sent his share of players to the next level. And for every Ben Sheets who dislikes him, there's a Reid Brignac who is happy to call him coach. The life of a coach.

Best statement I've heard in a while.

Kids are pussies these days.

And parents who get involved and try to defend their kids instead of letting them defend themselves at that level are even bigger pussies.

That is bullshite. Sorry to tell you. Look the 2004 championship with Duhe and the 2007 run with Delatte. While he did use other pitchers, he rode his stud even when it did not benefit them to the least bit.

I know for a fact that Duhe and Delatte only threw the first 3 games. Which pretty much every team does because it allows the pitcher ample rest. So once again, you're wrong. They never threw 4 or 5 games. 3 games is perfectly normal.

Haha I guarantee I know them better than you. I can even tell you who Delatte threw against in the playoffs that year. Bonnabel, Mandeville, and Barbe. Then Micah Gautreau started semifinal game and they lost.

Wrong again. Brian Babin started the Final game, and David Starkey threw the last 3 or 4. You just keep continuing to be wrong.

Let's look at it. Duhe threw 7 innings on Friday in the quarterfinals. St. Amant then won Saturday morning in the semi-finals, I think there was a rain out Saturday night, so the finals were Sunday. St. Amant went 9 or 10 innings with Jesuit in the finals, but Duhe never threw another pitch after Friday. Many other schools have thrown their ace on Friday and again on Saturday night, at the very least in relief, for the championship game.
