It looks like the top 10 will be something along these lines:

1. Kansas
2. Syracuse
3. Kentucky
4. Villanova
5. West Virginia
6. Purdue
7. Georgetown (despite the USF loss, they shouldn't be dropped behind Duke so soon)
8. Duke
9. Michigan State (drop them to 10 probably if they lose tonight)
10. Kansas State

Obviously, you can change teams around a little bit, but look after the 10 spot. You have a struggling Texas team, Ohio State, and a bunch of teams that aren't very good. Can anyone be a sleeper and beat the top 10 teams to get into the Final 4 this year? I really don't see too many options. Maybe Vanderbilt or Baylor?

Funny having Syracuse up there. I saved this gem from a blog I read the first week of the season.

quote:

37. Syracuse- Boeheim looks to have great rebounding with Wesley Johnson & Arinze Onuaku, but guard play/turnovers will give the Orange fits. Freshman Brandon Triche and returning vet Scoop Jardine are pretty much all Boeheim has in the backcourt, unless he moves 6-5 Andy Rautins back from the three-spot, and he may have to. Losing Johnny Flynn, Eric Devendorf, and Paul Harris early is going to have a measurable negative impact this year. Luckily, the Big East won't be quite as tough as last season, so the Orange won't get unfairly squeezed out of a shot at a tourney berth.

If they can play at Cole, they'd make the Final 4.

It is funny to see that, but I didn't think Cuse would be very good this year either. Not at 37, but in the 15-20 range kind of like Pitt.

Devendorf and Harris must have driven Boeheim crazy though.

Watch out for teams like Baylor that are solid with one guy(in Baylors case Dunn) that can light it up when need be.

Yeah I like Baylor. Wouldnt want to face them in the second round in a 2/7 or 3/6 match-up.

Damn, beat me to it.

Radio guy (connections to college coaches and NBA scouts) said on air that a team that would give big dawgs fits is Baylor....He said it is because they are athletic and long (2cd tallest team in NCAA)...if they get hot, they will knock off some teams in the dance.

Soemone should remember this thread during the dance, because I think Baylor will make some noise.

while everyone was sucking off Baylor, they went on to lose to A&M this afternoon. I could easily see Baylor losing in the first round considering they've lost to a couple really bad teams this year. They're really streaky

Here are some others, but again, I don't think there are as many sleepers this year.

Vandy, Pitt, Cornell (6 of their 7 best players are seniors), Wake Forest, UNLV, and Dayton. I doubt any of them will make it past the Sweet 16 though.

Well, that's why there are sleepers. If they weren't losing games, they would be in the top 10 with Kansas, Cuse, WV, etc.

And a close road loss to A&M is nothing to be ashamed of.

ETA: Their only "bad" losses are to Alabama on a neutral court and Colorado on the road.

LSU, just watch, go 0-16 in the reular season then turn it on for the SEC and NCAA tournament. Win them both.

Butler is a veteran group, returning all 5 starters from last season. I wouldn't want to play them come tourney time.

I like Zaga too, they are kind of flying under the radar this season.

I think GT is good enough to get to the Final Four and has shitty enough coaching to lose in the first round

Cuse is sick as hell. They'll have a chance against anyone. I like Georgetown's chances and Kansas as well.
