And?

Just as easily as you can make excuses we can counter how the East is terrible so much so that Brun doesn't need love to skate through to the finals.

No doubt. But I expect a very good series.

when the cavs acquired lebron, and even after they got love, they weren't expected to win the east. their rocky start solidified this

on top of that, the cavs suffered a rash of injuries in the playoffs. lebron has willed them to the finals against all odds

the warriors are, and have been, a vastly superior team. they're a historically great team. they were only 3 wins short of tying the jordan-era bulls for the most wins ever (while playing in a deeper NBA than that buls team).

it is what it is

Nope, I am not scared. He will never be better than Jordan.

And the Bulls had to beat (swept) a 60-win Magic team with two top 10 players and a 64-win Sonics team in the Finals.

That's fair. I just think the haterz brigade is ready to pounce on anything, even though this Finals is not really a fair fight IMO. The Cavs were borderline embarrassing down the stretch in games 4 and 5 of the Chicago series (even though they won the games) and one of the early games in the Atl series. If LeBron doesn't make that game winner on Mother's Day, they are not even here.

To LeBron's credit, he got away from iso ball. To the team's credit, they really came on strong in the conference finals. I think they have overachieved. This is a good accomplishment this year. But enjoy piling on when GS pummels them.

Exactly.

Why would LeBron fans be nervous when LeBron is playing with house money?

There is absolutely no reason to think the Cavs are going to win this series, so if he manages to pull it off, he'll be a legend.

ok....again...just as easy as someone can accuse me or anyone else that "tEh HaTeRz!!! are ready to pounce on anything.....I can say the same about the fanboys

It took a few responses to bring up the injury excuses. Come on man. It's June. Everyone is banged up. Klay Thompson is concussed.

Thanks for consistently proving my point

That's the problem. LeBron and everyone else are content with this "run" since it wasn't "expected"

Derp. You play to win. You don't play for second and go home and say, oh well, it was a good year. We weren't supposed to be here so second place ain't so bad.

I think most fans here are fans of teams in the West, and therefore think LBJ does kind of skate through in the East. I think the Cavs get handled somewhat easily in this series, but when you have LBJ you have a shot

Is this the Cavs defense on the GS offense? Because I guess I can agree the Cavs have good defenders but the Warriors are a good defensive team who will likely put a committee on LBJ with Green/Barnes etc.

Some of us are rational, but I know you don't understand that kind of thing.

LeBron haters live in this warped world where it is better to lose in the conference semi-finals or finals rather than drag your team to the NBA Finals and lose to one of the best teams in the last 15 years.

well said

this whole debate is a bigger "old school v. new school" debate, because a lot of the argument is in how we view sports

the more modern view is more objective, rational, and statistical-based while the classical view is based on subjectivity and emotions

jimi is playing up a classical narrative of being a "winner" that is a myth created by sportswriters trying to sell papers decades ago.

the more modern view is much more rational and sees the difference in quality of teams and understands the gap. by pretty much all objective measures, the cavs are a vastly inferior team to the warriors. it's highly unlikely the cavs can win 4 of 7 games and if they do it's an upset and the better team did not win the series.

i think the modern view kind of diminishes fandom, but then we have to ask if fandom is that great if it's so based in emotional-irrational thinking. it's kind of like being a fan of the pellies going against this GS juggernaut. i knew we were going to lose. now that still made certain individual games frustrating and maddening, but in the end i knew we were going to lose. that's life.

making the playoffs WAS a good run for the pellies

making the finals IS a good run for the cavs. it is an AMAZING year for this team, esp considering all the issues they faced

Well the haters as you call them also live in a world where LBJ Wade and Bosh said they were going to win 8 in a row. I know it was a pep rally etc. but those words stick When you are "the chosen one" and "the king" you are expected to win, and getting to the finals is no longer enough

Does he pass Shaq, Kobe,Bird,Russell,Wilt or Duncan? IMO, no.

Is he ahead of Dream,Big O,Malone(s),The Logo,or Dr.J? Probably.

Is he ahead of Magic,MJ or Kareem? No way.

Well it doesn't hurt his legacy if he loses as much as it helps if he wins.

Hardly anyone is picking the Cavs and nearly everyone considers the Warriors to be the superior team. If he loses, it doesn't help his legacy, but it doesn't really hurt nearly as much as the 2011 finals or the 2014 finals. If the dubs win, they were supposed to.

If the Cavs win, it will mean that LeBron was able to carry his team past a team that was better than any that MJ faced in the finals. In order to pull it off, LeBron will have to put up insane numbers.
