Any Braves fans still want to extend Heyward?

It just seems he is average. I know their styles are not similar, but this is extremely similar to how Francoeur was hailed the next braves franchise player after one above average season. We all know what happened there.

3 of his 4 seasons have been better than Francouer's career best.

I would just rather make some trades or test the free agent market instead of lockjng into another .240 18-20 HR contract for big bucks

He is still only 24, and Jeff Francoeur was never even close to as good as Heyward has been. He still has time to make the leap.

No offense, but while I've never felt heyward has lived up to the hype to compare him to francoeur is just dumb

How about bringing in a new hitting coach? These guys swing like it's Sunday Beer softball league. They have that,"Homer or Nothing" approach.

Cut those swings down and start driving the ball to the gaps.

Outside of J Hey and J Up, the only serviceable outfielders on the market that winter look to be Cespedes, Fowler and Span.

Don't think you want to be shopping for 2 corner outfielders with that market.

I feel like the Braves would be much better off locking up Heyward.

I am all for this. Greg walker sucks. The bats have underperformed the past 3 or 4 years.

Walker has only been the hitting coach the last 2 years, but yes I agree he is bad at his job.

I am not comparing him to frenchy. I am saying the situations are similar, where we thought we were getting a star outfielder and ended up with mediocrity.

I base it on his career being streaky and underwhelming, not 7 games. He is young enough to break out, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I don't think Heyward is mediocre. He's a top 10 right fielder at worst, argument could be made he's top 5. Was arguably the best RF in the game in 2012.

You may be right here. I guess we can sign the best of upton/heyward and take our chances with cespedes or try to keep both upton and heyward. The braves need to draft better. The 11-13 drafts have been underwhelming concerning the bats.

The problem is you never know when you're getting 2012 and 2010 heyward or 2011/2013 Heyward

They definitely must draft better moving forward. Outside of Simmons the system has been pretty devoid of position player talent since Heyward and Freeman graduated.
