There are probably better ideas, but I still think that it should be a best of three, played out over two days.
Games one and two at WC1 park, doubleheader
Game 3 at WC2, the next day, if necessary

Yeah that's just give the best team in baseball an entire week off while two other teams play it out. That's retarded

Then I saw this which is even more retarded

There shouldn't be a game or a series. 162 games said the Mets were better than the Giants this season

Why even have the playoffs, right?

I agree that it's stupid.
This is a one game play-in format just like college basketball uses, except that one basketball game is more "substantial" than one baseball game.
Imo, the two losers of these games shouldn't even be considered as having made the playoffs.
Imo, baseball should adopt the NFL playoff system. 6 total teams per league, with 2 tears in each league getting a first-round bye.

Exactly. It was annoying last year when the Cubs had to do the one game thing, but if they would've been a few games better they wouldn't have had to deal with that.

I like the one game idea

its not as bad as the frickheads at MLB having fricking playoff games in the afternoon of goddamn weekdays.

*ball hits ground in shallow left*
Umm infield fly! Batter is out!

Because there would NEVER be a double header played especially in post season play for a series.
That being said, you would need at least TWO days for those games then a travel day between games 2 & 3. Then Game 3 would be played and you would need at least another day for the winner to travel to Chicago. All in all it would take at the very least 5 days for a 3 game series to be played.
Teams rarely get two days off in the regular season so why punish a team who's earned the best record by giving them almost an entire week of waiting. That would hurt them if anything

Don't have a travel day, team with better record host all 3, 1 day of travel and then the next series starts.

No one do anything else with the postseason until we unfrick up home field in the world series being decided by the fricking all star game.

I like it. It's entertaining and fun and incentivizes winning your division. Sure it's a terrible way to determine who is truly the better team, but a best of three would be just as meaningless in that aspect. If the whole goal was to determine the best team, we'd go off the 6 month regular season, not the one month tournament. But what fun would that be?

What if both WC teams have identical records?

Yeah, I love the wild card because MLB managed to shrink the playoffs by expanding the field. Winning your division matters again, as its a severe punishment to be the wild card team. During the Sox/Yankees heydey, they'd put the team up on blocks once they were in the postseason, unconcerned with who won the division title. Now, you gotta win the pennant.
Wild card teams should be treated like the second class postseason citizens they are, lucky recipients of a second chance.

The go to a tiebreaker such as H2H or record vs NL

I initially thought it was stupid, but it really spices up the end of the regular season. Houston, Seattle, Detroit, and the Yankees all had a decent shot at the playoffs until the end.
