This is a fascinating comparison and should put things into proper perspective.

I'm happy that American Pharaoh won the Triple Crown. That whole group is a class act. That said, this should put to rest any discussion about AP being in the same league as Secretariat. Secretariat will rule the roost for years to come. Horse Racing's version of Joe DiMaggio. A true American legend.

It really doesnt at all though. The horses ran two separate races. It was clear as day AP had a ton left in the tank at the end. That was not the fastest AP could run. Three things could happen if those two horses actually raced:

1. Secretariat still wins, but not as bad due to AP running faster as the Jockey would have rode him harder to close the lead(Most likely scenario IMHO)

2. Secretariat somehow runs even faster because AP pushes him at some point(Not likely)

3. Somehow AP actually wins because he had that much more left in the tank and he hasnt actually been pushed yet(Not Likely)

AP only ever trailed 2 horses in all 3 races total. He dominated the triple crown.

Just for some perspective

Im sorry but that isnt speculation. He was not really ever given the whip, and he had a ton left when crossing the line. He was still gaining speed

You don't get horse racing.

With the Triple Crown at stake and AP's not gonna go all out?? Speculation. What your seeing is the greatest 3 year olds of their day going balls to the wall for the greatest prize in horse racing.

No others dont. Horses often run the race that is given to them by the other horses in the race. I think Secretariat is a better horse. But people comparing two separate horses by mashing up two different races is an incorrect way to judge

But that's exactly what you just did!

How do you know AP had stuff left in the tank? Its like saying Lebron is scared to shoot FTs at the end of games when he goes to the basket in 1 and shoots a fadeaway in another.

I mean AP ran the last part of the race I think over a second faster than Secretariat

That should give some credence to he had a lot left and could have probably done more earlier

I'm sure Secretariat's jockey was really riding him when he had a 31 length lead.

What we need is a match race like Seabiscuit vs. War Admiral.

Because it was clear as day to anyone with eyes and a brain. AP wasnt pushed.

You're saying that a horse with one of the best times ever in a Belmont Stakes wasn't pushed?

Didn't Secretariat have a heard 3x the size of the average horse's heart?
