I'd like the hire. Young, analytical, and apparently has some good leadership chops.

Always.

To be fair, most managers just don't matter in the grand scheme of things, so you might as well swing for the fences when you have a young team.

I've always enjoyed his breakdowns on TV. I approve of Cora.

disagree

This thinking is how the Cardinals got Matheny. Ownership claimed they didn't have to pay some one like Larussa 6mil per to Win.

Great Manager is worth 8-10 games a season, but a Bad manager can cost you nightly, especially in close games. Bullpen handling can win or lose a division.

I have an unhealthy and unwarranted dislike of him.. I really don't know why but as a sox fan I hope the rumors aren't true

I wish Varitek would want the job, I'd always go with a former catcher over any other position....but I don't think he wants it. Cora does nothing for me, but neither does Farrell... I just don't want another "pitching guru" who doesn't know how to develop homegrown pitchers.
