The outcome of that game disagrees.

And if Nebraska had an extra game to schedule back in the 90's, it would be a non-BCS school. Just the way of the world with 12 game schedules.

And they'd have 5 more wins putting them at 65-3 in 5 years compared to Bama's 59-7 record over the last 5 seasons. Even with out those extra fluff games they have more wins than Bama with their added fluff wins (60 to 59).

Oh look, a hindsight argument. Who should have been there in our place?

Too bad that has nothing to do about deserving to be in the game. Dumbass.

ou did your best to make each of our years look like the easiest schedule known to man and I refuted that with actual numbers and respected links instead of biased opinion.

Is this the best run ever? Hell if I know and hell if I care. I'm enjoying it for what it is and don't give a damn if it's the "best ever".

If you read, I referenced that Bama played one mediocre to above average OOC opponent per year in the parts they controlled, not post-season.

I also was responding to Ghazi claiming this run was the best ever, not you.

Bama's schedule has been above average for most teams, but Sagarin's ranking is and always has been an utter joke when it comes to SOS.

The way we played...VANDY would have put up a better fight. Use whatever you want to attack Bama as an LSU fan...but you're going full on retard if you choose the 2011 championship to state your case.

Did we deserve to get our butts kicked? Why or why not?

Why discount who was played in the postseason?

Because you are evaluating things the teams controlled. In their bowl games Nebraska played:

1993 - FSU (#1) and lost by 2 points.
1994 - Miami (#3) and won
1995 - beat UF (#2) and won
1996 - Lost to VT (#9)
1997 - beat Tennessee (#3) by 25 points

Fact remains that all of those teams they played were as good as any team Bama faced.

So I looked at Regular season scheduling to evaluate it. Again, even with the 5 extra rent-a-wins, Bama's win total doesn't match Nebraska's.

unanimous? no. but they're pretty close. my biggest hiccup with calling this current Bama run the GOAT is how they've faired when they've played truly worthy opponents. because just looking at their schedule it was full of a bunch of nobodies and pretenders over the past several years.

truly "big" games under Saban:

#3 LSU '07 - L
#3 UGA '08 - W
#2 Florida '08 - L
#1 Florida '09 - W
#2 Texas '09 - W
#2 Auburn '10 - L
#1 LSU '11 - L
#1 LSU '11 - W
#5 LSU '12 - W
#15 TAMU '12 - L
#3 UGA '12 - W

so 6-5 in big games .. I'd like to see that be more dominant.

Oklahoma won like 55 straight games the 50's. when Bama does this get back with me. Other than that its pretty impressive. BTW GHAZI =

Forgot ND and TAMU this year.

Edit: and if you include #15 TAMU for a loss, why not top 15 for wins?

I went by my own judgment based on who I thought were truly worthy opponents. I include TAMU but not ND in my list.

A lot of people will point out the 68 wins and say that's great. Some will say 3 NC's in 4 years is pretty good. A lot of the haters will point out the 7 loses. The haters will go back to the 1930's to prove this Alabama program isn't as great as a pre WWII program. Get a grip. Guess what? Alabama was winning Rose Bowl championships back then too. Alabama has always been. This is just another of many great era's in Alabama history. Alabama is better than USC, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Miami and Nebraska. And no team in the SEC comes close to the Tide's history. Being a good team for 10 years is awesome. Many teams have good runs. However, Bama has been great for over a century.

“USC was favored in 58 consecutive games from 2003 to 2007, the longest streak in the BCS era.

Matt Leinart and the Trojans were 3.5 pt underdogs at Auburn in the 2003 season opener and it wasn’t until a road trip to Eugene in 2007 they were dogged again."

3 national titles

But, but, but, COLT MCCOY GOT HURT! McCoy would have sliced up the Bama defense!

And Bama, despite clearly being the best team in the country, didn't deserve to play for the title in 2011! Oklahoma State and their lack of a defense clearly was a better team!

And in 2012 Bama played such a weak sauce schedule they shouldn't have even been allowed to play in the BCS!
