Did anyone else happen to catch this Moscona tweet last night?

He is one butthurt Yankees fan. Truth of it is the Astros have held onto a strong fan base through the 10 years, but most likely not talked about because many of us didn't enjoy talking about it. I know personally I was always laughed at for my team during that span, but who's laughing now Red Sox fans?

On the topic of the fanbase

quote:

last night's Astros-Yankees game drew the highest ratings for any single baseball game on ESPN in the last twelve years.

quote:

Houston also outpaced New York off the field, as the ratings in Houston scored a 14.8 to New York's 12.0 rating.

The Astros made it hard to follow the last few years, both with the product on the field and the Comcast debacle. It was very difficult to follow after having full access for 20 plus years on tv and radio, especially in the BR area. Hard to beat your chest when your team is losing 100 games a year and you can't watch them. Doesn't mean that people that are cheering now are not die hard Astro fans, we just simply have something to cheer about again.

Moscona is difficult to like sometimes.

This is exactly how I feel and believe most fall in this category. I kept up with games through radio last couple years here and there, but it was not always easy to follow them outside of me getting update every night with final score. I changed my service to Direct tv when it was announced we could get Astros games again because it brought back that opportunity to watch.

We finally have something to cheer about between the opportunity to watch them, which we got this year, and a team that is a very good and young and he thinks like this. I'd hate to break it to him but for the most part the people I've noticed as excited as me are all the ones who never left during the last 10 years, but doubt he knows how big the Astros fan base has always been in Houston and Louisiana.

You should see this rant this guy from my high school went on about how Bo Porter would have won the division by several games. He played for him back on his travel ball team.

I think he might Ryno with the way he dogged Lunhow

Porter did what he was supposed to, which was guide the team through the down years and then get someone better to manage the young talent in hopes of helping make leap to contender in a few years. Of course I knew they could be about .500 going into season, but I did not see this coming.

I don't think you can do a better job managing the young talent and getting them to buy in than what Hinch has done. Then again this is a really good group of kids that seem to enjoy each other and playing every day so I'm sure that makes his job easier.

Just think, 2 short years ago, the Astros were scoring a 0.0 in the last week of the season.

If I recall correctly, wasn't there a Houston home game where the TV viewership was less than 900 total?

Having a team with a winning record and in the playoffs is nice. But I realized that I was quickly becoming a Royals fan with some of my posts today.

Think I'll try to temper my attitude a bit.

Sconeman is a good guy (and a Bear), surprised he said it given his circumstances.

Maybe I'm too old. but what does this mean? Like, Yogi the bear? Or a big hairy gay dude? Not that it matters... just trying to get the correct context of a Bear referred to as 'sconeman'.

I think he was referring to Moscona being a Catholic High school alum
