Nadal pooped the bed on grass again today. Federer is in a good place to win number 8 at Wimbledon.

Nadal is also dealing with knee issues. Is he done? Is this debate finally settled. Federer >> Nadal? I think so.

Kobe never owned LeBron head-to-head the same way that Nadal owns Federer.

I can't figure out Nadal. It is always chicken or egg on these losses. Do shoddy knees cause the losses, or is that his excuse after the fact when he loses confidence and someone just beats him? I still think he can get to 17-ish and probably deserves a GOAT nod due to head-to-head. That said, losses like today and last year show how absolutely ridiculous Federer's semi/quarter streaks and overall consistency are. Pete Sampras was losing to guys like Galo Blanco and George Bastl in majors in his later years. That just does not happen with Federer.

Rafa could have six more slams in him or be on his last legs. I have no idea.

I would argue that Federer is better than Nadal against the field, but that Nadal took advantage of certain matchup related deficiencies and a large number of clay court matches to inflate the head to head record.

Considering Nadal owns the shite out of Federer when they play tennis, I'd say no. But that is just me. lol Nadal has won 20 of their 30 matches and has beaten Feds 5 times in a row twice. Hard to argue

I think it depends on how you define better. Nadal is clearly a better clay court player than Federer. On hard courts and grass, Fed has a way more impressive resume and has held his own against Nadal (8-7 Fed lead).

I find if kind of funny that Fed being the second best clay court player of his generation has hurt his standing in a lot of people's eyes. If he'd been like Sampras and routinely lost in the 4th round of clay court tourneys, his h-2-h with Nadal would look a lot better.

Theunknownknight, I don't really understand how you can even argue that Federer is better than Nadal. The head-to-head record is just completely one-sided. Before you say anything about the French Open, if you took the French Open record out of it, Nadal still leads 15-10. That means that Nadal wins 2 out of every 3 times they play at any other place other than the French and has never beaten him at that tournament while Nadal has beat Federer at Wimbledon, which is easily Federers' best surface. While Federer has more Grand Slam titles than Nadal, he is not better than Nadal, the head-to-head record easily proves that. He just had about a 2 year head start in winning majors.

From wiki

quote:

Nadal leads their head-to-head 20–10. Fifteen of their 30 matches have been on clay which is statistically Nadal's best surface.[108] Federer has a winning record on grass (2–1) and indoor hard courts (4–0), while Nadal leads the outdoor hard courts (6–2) and clay (13–2)
