A hard / moving story we all need to read if for anything to shoot a prayer north

The fragility of life......hug your kids (big and small)
...watched my twin giraffes this morning at their first junior high football practice. first ever in pads. They held their own (albeit confused/clumbsy). I was exhausted afterwards and so proud of them.
Reading this has moved me to tears on the heals of that.

Yeh there is no change my little boy is playing football, and I come from football stock.

Well that was just a horrific read.

you can't really blame that story on playing football. The kid was sick with an inflamed spleen. He could have fallen or been horsing around and lacerated his spleen. It sucks, but to lump that in with "Football is a dangerous sport" is irresponsible.

I, too, am tattooed with a football heritage......just scares me to death. I will NEVER let them see that though
ETA: the conditions in the story are apples to oranges on football risks. My main intent was to encourage hugging ALL little/big ones and not target football.

Had my first kid 2 weekd ago.. a son. If he wants to play football, that is his decision. We cant live our lives afraid, and cant stop it when it is our turn.

So clearly, there is a line when parents make decisions for their kids safety. This is one for me, not for you
I dont live my life afraid. But playing football is not a must in anyones life. The risk out weigh any potential reward

We gave our boy a solid baseball name, so we're hopeful that's the route he goes.

His papa dave used his GI bill to go to golf school and is now a certified professional. I'm sure we'd be good with this as well
He hasn't done it in a while, but he used to swing his hands like he was holding a bat and yell "BASEBALL". We thought it was a sign

You gone not ever let him get his drivers license and drive either i assume... i mean its a greater risk than football for his life

About as laughable as you comparing football to doing blow and joining the kkk.. my bad i thought thats what we were doing, making ridiculous comparisons

I was simply pointing out the faulty logic of "we will let him live his life." You clearly will make decisions for your young child you deem unsafe where the risks arent worth it. Football just isnt one of those for you, which is perfectly fine. But it isnt because you are "just letting him live his life."
