No one's deflecting. They're just pointing out how hypocritical the NBA is.

You can publicly state that you want to shoot white ppl, you can call as many ppl as you want "fa**ot", you can attempt to strangle your head coach, you can pull guns on teammates in the locker room, and you can physically attack multiple fans in the stands.

All of that is cool. But if you tell your girlfriend in the privacy of your own home that you don't want her hanging out with black guys, then BOOM, death penalty for your arse.

SCH, may I ask you how you feel about the things Spike Lee has said?

Not trolling or anything. I'm just confused at how such a racist is given a pass by many.

Assuming you are one of the 30 people in the entire world who own an NBA team.

Isn't he currently a host on NBA Sirius/XM? He's also made at least one documentary on the NBA (Kobe doin' work).

He's obviously not profiting anywhere close to how Sterling has, but he most certainly has made money off the NBA.

He's not employed by the NBA or under its franchise umbrella. Sirius owns that show so they should deal with him as they see fit.

48. Sterling really sucks and should be banned...this is embarrassing...

This thread made the Speedy "Donald Sterling" list, even though it was actually about John Sterling, the radio voice of the Yankees?

Just let it go guys. Sterling being banned from the NBA has no effect on your daily lives, stop acting like you're outraged about it.

Amazing how your tune changes. (yes, I know you did this purposely)

Best part of the article

quote:

the only reason Sterling is gone is media-driven hysteria over a private tape release. It certainly isn’t the NBA’s high moral standard with regard to language, race, or activity. And that is more of a commentary on the culture of the NBA and the lack of standards in the media than anything else.

We've answered all we needed to about Sterling and he has been dealt with.

How about we move onto Spike Lee now. He should have no affiliation with the NBA because of his racist views, dont you think?

Okay. Since the NBA wants no affiliation with known racist, shouldnt he lose his front row seats at MSG and be banned from attending games?

What fair is fair right?

This is the part I still can't quite get over...it was a PRIVATE tape. If he had gotten up on a podium and said what he said...then that is one thing....but don't any of us have a right to speaking our mind when we are supposedly NOT in public? How many of you would be without a job right now if your boss had a recording of everything you had said about him or her when in the privacy of your own home? How many of you would be divorced if your wives knew everything you said about them when you were hanging with your buddies? I hope we don't end up in a George Orwell 1984ish society.

That being said, Sterling can burn in hell for all I care...this is past due for him anyways. I just hate that THIS is the way he got caught.

The conversations and way everyone acts in exactly the same in private as it is in the boardroom or in front of their boss. You didn't know that?

The claim is he knew he was being recorded and this was a common occurrence between him and his girlfriend.

Did she always go and put these recordings out in public?

He isn't going to jail is he? He has every right to speak his mind, and that right has been upheld.

His business associates also have the right to react to those thoughts and modify their relationship with him as they feel appropriate. The NBA cannot control how this information came to light but we can't "unhear" what we've heard.

Everyone does, of course. And the NBA has a right to discipline him as he sees fit. Remember, he owns a franchise that is 1/30th of an association.

Ok and if my wife did divorce me, would you be arguing that she shouldn't have?
