This is nothing more than political bullshite.

They are trying to strike a racial issue while the topic is hot so that they can pat themselves on the back and show how sensitive to minority causes they are by "urging" Dan Snyder to change the name.

If he changes it, they can talk about how they corrected an injustice. If he doesn't change it, they can talk about how they are continuing to fight for such an injustice.

It's a win-win.

It's just political bullshite.

LOL. You can say "Redskin" on TV, radio or in print as much as you want
you can do the same with "bitch"... So you're saying calling someone a bitch isn't offensive?

How long until a democrat leading one of the military committees makes the military leaders change the helicopter name from Apache to something else?

I'm laughing at his comparison of it to the n word. Which we can't even type out. It's a ridiculous comparison.

It is a racial slur but it has been a socially accepted one for that franchise for decades and no body seemed to care (though I'm sure there have always been small scale protests about it), why it has become such a big issue now is beyond me.
wtf

You acknowledge it's a racial slur but then say it's OK to slur someone's race because it's socially accepted?

Yikes.

fair enough, but I'm not sure why you'd focus on that part and not the larger issue.

I've been down in the D.C. area since 1973. I have never been a Redskin fan. I cannot stand Dan Snyder. I hope he tells those senators to frick off.

The NFL is privately putting the screws to him. The moment they have the leverage they'll squeeze him

Look at what they did to a guy who posted 11 words on twitter

I'm saying when someone looks at the name "redskin" it's impossible to say that wasn't a word created out racism, but the way it has been used for my entire life has never used in a racial manner, the context has always been football only related, that's it. And although it has been like that for decades all of the sudden people have a problem with it.

I mean how old do you think most of these US Senators are? They have lived their entire lives hearing that term when referring to Washington and they never had a problem with it until now? I guess that's what I'm getting at.

They need to start trying to figure out online poker. This is retarded. They probably want them to be the Senators.
