You're proud of yourself for your complete fail at giving advice. The question was asked by an adult learning to pick up tennis. Adults are not looking to become Djokovic by wasting their free time hitting against a wall for hours on end. Adults ARE looking to enjoy themselves, and possibly meet new people and make friends at the same time.
The only thing you said that made any sense was to join a league. But that can only come after learning how to play the game. And you won't ever learn the rules or how to play against opponents from a wall.
I'm sorry you lack the life experience to assist others.

I wouldn't advise an adult who's never played tennis to join a league. I would recommend taking a few lessons first. A player should at least be able to get a serve in consistently and be able to sustain at least 3 or 4 shot rallies before subjecting their game to others.

Right, he should skip my advice and get a virtual reality machine instead. Or was it watch youtube videos? Assisting others, I see. Thank you for your kindness and dedication to humanity.
I have always loved hitting against a backboard. Actually, I think backboards are too small as a general matter, but give me a building with a large flat brick wall with no windows, a relatively flat paved surface, a racquet, and a ball that isn't dead, and I'm a happy man for a couple hours.
But maybe I'm weird. I actually hit the heavy bag earlier today as well, so that's probably right. I mean, who in their right mind would hit the heavy bag?

I intended the term "league" to be loosely construed. They have tennis meetups for people who are complete beginners Something like that would be a good way to get involved in the game and meet others who like to play. The guy who is a complete beginner won't stay that way if he goes out and hits regularly.

I did this SO DAMN MUCH when I was a kid. My parents home was brick and in the back was a half basketball court next to the pool, the back of the house there was a completely flat brick wall for almost the length of the half basketball court until the deck.
Man, I would go out there almost daily and hit for 30 min or an hour. I loved it so much. Only sucked when your ball went into the pool or hit the back of the basketball goal/pole.

Most think Kyrgios is a few years away from getting his head in the right shape to make the leap. I could see it happening at any major, including the next one.

And Djokovic just steamrolled Nadal. So much for the "Big 4". Federer is the only one that can still beat Djokovic with any regularity and he can only do it in a best of 3 format.

Nadal looks like he is getting better. He just can't beat Djokovic.
I think he can beat everyone else though. Like, I'm not saying he could run through a major and beat a bunch of really good players. But on any given day, he could win a match against anyone but Djokovic right now.
So he just needs Fed or Stan to beat Djokovic for him.

that was an absolute beatdown by nole. absolute and utter destruction.
just finished watching the match on youtube and nole was in control after saving a break point in the first service game of the match. from that point on, it was a clinic. his backhand cross court for winners has really evolved into a big weapon.
