This was pretty much expected right? He wants to make sure his boy TT gets a deal then he'll re-sign.

He's not leaving Cleveland again. He signed this contract so he can re-up next year. He is opting out and waiting to resign so he can see how his contract needs to be structured in order to put the best possible cast around him. He's not hinging his decision to sign on Tristan Thompson.

He's only structuring his contract 1 way, 1 year max this year with a player option.

More than likely this about cap management than anything. If LeBron doesn't have a wink-wink deal to be part of ownership when he calls it quits I'd be shocked. That's his real power, besides being GM and being his coach's boss.

Yeah it's about cap space I would think. He's not threatening anyone. He hasn't going anywhere
He hasn't even opted out yet.

This is a guess on my part, but I think he would take less if it allows them to squeeze in a player that he thinks will greatly improve the team. No basis behind that belief though.

So you think if they sign Love and let TT walk, LeBron is going to leave Cleveland? That's what your post seems to be implying.

LaMarcus to SAS
Love is going to S&T
Gasol staying in Memphis
I wouldn't be surprised if DeAndre isn't playing with the Clippers next year. Hibbert just opted out too.
There is a lot up in the air-Boogie, Melo (NYK would be crazy not to explore options), Wade, etc.
Fun times

I think he has to opt in, not opt-out.
His cap hold is 120% so he's not letting the Cavs free up money by waiting around. It's just Lebron being Lebron.

In some level of fairness a good bit of that thread was people waiting on LeBron.

Carmelo is unhappy
quote:
I talking to my sources last night. All they said was, he’s furious. He’s livid. He feels completely hoodwinked and betrayed by Phil Jackson. He feels like he was lied to, like he was sold a bill of goods. He knew that he couldn’t get as money anywhere else, and he’s willing to concede that he wanted his money. But he didn’t know it was going to be like this. He didn’t know it was going to be this bad. And he can’t believe that his second season under the Phil Jackson regime, he has to look forward to it being worse than even last year was.

According to multiple league sources, the Heat are attempting to trade guard Mario Chalmers and big man Chris Andersen to help free up some salary

Yea, on July 3rd the idea of Lebron going back to Cleveland started to come out and until July 11th we twisted around in the wind for 400 pages.

i mean, they go out and give him a frick ton of money.....and then make a pick that everyone agrees will take 2 or 3 years for you to see? i personally dont get what they are trying to do

I've noticed over the course of the season, you've become a bit sensitive. Is everything ok? Anytime there is a thread comparing basketball to another sport you become defensive or if someone makes a comment you take as a slight it happens. Is it because of everything going on in America today?

Just thought it was a dumb dig.
