yea, but i can still see us taking d'angelo at 2 and then picking up marc. i think this only matters if karl anthony towns is off the board

Man it would be hard to pass Okafor up tho. I know the bust factor with him is higher than you would like at #2 but he's the smoothest big man on offense I've seen come out of the draft in a while.

I would rather grab whichever big man is there at #2 and then maybe try to grab a guy like Tobias Harris? for SF

Okafor
Randle
Harris
Kobe
Clarkson

heres something i think we do

we draft KAT/okafor, then we try to move up from 27 to maybe the early 20s/late teens and we take rondae hollis jefferson

then in the offseason, we go for kris middleton

starting 5 in 2016 looks like
jordan
kobe
kris middleton
julius
KAT/jahlil

I could definitely get behind that. Stay young and keep that precious cap space available for Westbrook.

Middleton's free agency is going to be fascinating, we know all the guys who will get the max. How much does he get with the cap rising?

and then we have room for the biggest of them all the next offseason in KD

thats the thing, will be interesting to see how all of these contracts react to the money increase. khris can make a good amount of money, while really not fricking with cap space. i can see him getting anywhere from 6 to 8 million dollars

He is going to get a lot more than that IMO. And he's restricted so teams will have to overpay to get the bucks not to match.

Today was a great day gentlemen. After all the bad luck the Lakers have had for the past 4 or 5 years, I was fully expecting to get fricked in the lotto and lose the pick.

Not only did we keep the pick but also vaulted into the top two to grab one of the two potential franchise big men

Great day indeed

Good for the Lakers getting a good pick today. I hope they look like a decent franchise again within a few years.

Isn't all their bad luck of their own creation? Kobe's contract, the D'antoni and Nash experiment, letting Howard go instead of prioritizing him as their future, letting Pau walk instead of trading him (functionally trading Pau for Boozer), refusing to humble themselves and bring Jackson back and picking up Scott instead... all of these are bad coaching and personnel decisions that would hurt any franchise.

It seems to me the Lakers are where they have tried like hell to get over the last five years... near the bottom. Not because of bad luck, because of a determined effort to make the worst available decisions.

Kobe's contract,
really doenst handicap us going forward

the D'antoni
this was our fault

and Nash experiment
eh, he was a major free agent at the time and many people thought he would actually be able to play

letting Howard go instead of prioritizing him as their future
we tried to keep him. he wanted out, he never wanted to be in LA

this is true about the mike danoni situation, not the byron scott

some if it has been because of the organizations decisions. others have stemmed from the NBA retroactively vetoing a trade and the fact that the team has dealt with injuries on injuries on injuries the past few years

I agree that the FO (Jim buss specifically) has made some downright boneheaded decisions but theres been some bad luck involved there also. The nixed CP3 really altered the franchise more than anyone could've imagined 5 years ago and in hindsight, helped set off a chain reaction that put the Lakers where they are today.

LA wouldn't have traded for Nash, which means Pringles likely would not have been hired. Howard is much less likely to leave if he has CP3 as a running mate imo. The Kobe contract never happens because at that point, the Lakers would have two young stars to build around.
