Here you go

quote:

This dataset is brought to you by the Office of Postsecondary Education of the U.S. Department of Education.

Alabama Women's Softball

Alabama Women's Gymnastics

and for good measure:

Alabama Baseball

So those three sports brought in a total revenue of $2.73 million.

Not bad.

Problem is their total expense were $6.9 million

Scholarship limitations are ridiculous to begin with. A school/university should be able to give as many scholarships out as it wants. Nothing wrong with as many kids as possible getting a chance to attend a major university, or any university for that matter, for free and get an education and have a better chance to be a contributable member of this country

Don't know how old you are. But back in the day there were no scholarship limits. The problem was Div. I football.
Nebraska would give out 150 scholarships when they knew only 90 would ever make the field. The idea was to keep the other 60 from attending opponents in their region.

You might say "why would a kid take a scholarship if he will never play?" Because kids are optimistic and overestimate their potential.

they're just spending too much...

no one's forcing ADs to go over 50k for women's hoop coaches if they're not turning a profit, just bc UConn pays Geno Auriemma $1M and they are...

u gotta pay more than 50K to get a quality coach to hopefully change the fortunes. With the sec network coming on board and a lot more of the minor sports being shown I am pretty sure a lot of the sports may break into the break even. I would love to see some of the SB VB and BB games during the week along with the Gymnastic meets

The first base coach and third base coach are in foul territory. So they are not on the field.

If you don't know that foul territory is part of the field of play, then you should stop talking about baseball

You know what I meant. A coach in foul territory is no different than the ball girl.

None of that has anything to do with what the coaches wear.

One thing to remember about softball..they don't carry nearly the number of players that baseball does. Most softball players have 20 players, at most. Many baseball teams, like LSU, have 35.

Title IX is bullshite. There are men's college sports that have been eliminated to achieve compliance. Especially swimming and wrestling.

There are three ways to be compliant. Lazy ADs choose to eliminate men's sports.

And no one is forcing them to build multimillion dollar redundant facilities. If they want to spend that money (and the only thing that forces their hand is their nonprofit status), then they could spend it on scholarships. But people should know by now that these ADs aren't about doing the right thing...
