I would like to take out a small small business loan(5kish) and was thinking I may need to have already created the LLC. Time is somewhat of an issue as their is a deadline for a project I would like to jump in. I've never owned a small business before, so am admittedly green. Legal Zoom seems to walk you through the creation pretty well. TIA

Also, for you small business owners, what am I looking at time-wise in Louisiana?

If you are not going to set up with an attorney and CPA advice check out the LA Secretary of State's website. You can set one up in minutes.

I'm not sure why you would need legal help for that. I set up an llc by going to the secretary of states website and working from there. You will also need to get a Fein # from the IRS.

You can also pay to expedite the LLC, if necessary. $30 for 24 hour turnaround and $50 for 1-3 hour turnaround I think.

And amazingly, all of that takes less than an hour.

Yeah it's easy in LA. I tell clients who are gonna be sole owners to do it themselves and save the money. Give them the caveat that if they are married they aren't technically the sole owner unless there is a prenup and send them on their way.

As others have said you should have no problem doing it yourself. Bank may want an operating agreement which you can find a template online.

Set one up this morning, go to sec of state website , print out 2 forms (article of incorporation and initial report) fill them out (very easy) get notarized and mail in with $100

Got to IRS website and search for a new EIN, and follow process, very easy

Finished

To answer OP. If you choose not to do yourself as recommended above, I can say that Legalzoom works great and is easy. I have used for several different things over the years.
