...down 4%
Many big names down 4-8% or MORE today.

WHY? Wrapping of a subpar earnings season?

I'm assuming the failed merger between Office Depot and Staples didn't help...down 40% and 18% respectively.

Fossil down 29%
Macy's 15%
Wendy's 9%
Popeyes 4%
Dunkin 3.5%
Netflix 3%
Walmart 2.5%
Target 5%

Toyota, not U.S., but damn! 6%

We don't get a lot of humor on this board. Well Done.

That explains Macy's Walmart and Target

It doesn't explain the others.

What do they say about a rising tide? Whatever it is, I'm sure the converse is applicable when the tide is out...no?

That's a heck of an ocean there.

I get the Amazon vs Brick and Mortar thing.

There may be valid reasons the fast food chains are dropping today, but I just don't see how they can be related to the Amazon vs Brick and Mortar thing, unless we just have some panic setting in on all things discretionary spending. Which I guess is possible.

I'm not saying there's a correlation to Amazon going up vs fast food going down. But it's obvious Amazon has stolen a lot of biz from brick and mortar stores as you pointed out too. I do think in relation to the fast food chains though there has been a push towards being more health conscious in this country. Haven't seen Whole Foods numbers lately but the trend for them has been on the upside.

Breitbart and 75% of the poliboard believe this can be attributed to an online petition related to TGT's stance on the he-she bathrooms.

Long term? I like everything but TGT, M, and FOSL...but even M should be ok.
I like food stocks. I haven't looked into Wendy's and exactly how bad they missed, but I've watched it for 18 months and I'd bet it hits 11 again. When, I don't know

It was strange reading about the merger and why it failed stating companies lacked choices for buying basic low-margin office supplies.

Yes, with the exception of Netflix I can't tell you the last time I bought something from the companies listed in the OP.

I can't imagine so, but I have no idea.
