Trying to buy a new car while also affording rent.

About to move into a 2 bedroom that is gonna run me probably around $550 a month including electricity and internet as well as utilities. I make close to $2700 a month before taxes and I need a new car but I'm wondering if it's feasible for me to do so right now or just wait it out. I'm 26 (doubt that matters lol) and I am looking at a Jeep Wrangler but again, not sure if I should risk it with rent as well as bills.

Holy fricking shite!
My rent for my 300 sq ft studio with barely a kitchen and a bathroom so small I have to sit at an angle is double that (though most of that is from location honestly).
Are you living in student housing. I don't think I've seen non-student housing anywhere for less than 700.

Lol well the place is $1000 but I have a roommate so $550 for rent/utilities

If money is tight, you need an affordable used car.
Forget the new wrangler. Forget any wrangler. I love jeeps. I have owned one and will own one again.
But you can't afford a new car and can't afford the repairs on a jeep.

Don't think it's an issue to buy a vehicle if you know your budget. How much do you have saved up? What can you put down & trade in?
The lowest level 2 door jeep may be in your budget if you financially set yourself up well. But the 30k+ price tag on most jeeps you see is probably something I wouldn't touch until I was a little more established.

if money is this tight might be good idea to focus on saving up an emergency fund instead of buying a new car.
