I'm up 33% since investing a small amount in LUV. This was my first investment and I only bought about $1000 worth. Time to sell and take the gains while I can? I don't see it going down until oil goes back up. But I also don't see it going much higher.

look at the company's forward guidance. should give you an idea of what expectations are for future quarters. If you think they will exceed those expectations, I would hold. They have been growing profits at a good pace since crude tumbled last year.

You can also reduce the weight of the position and find another company to invest profits in.

you should preform an advanced oil based hedge using derivatives to protect you against rising oil prices. you know since its your first trade.

It's tough to make money on airlines long term

Anytime I have a gain like that on DAL or JBLU I sell and there are always more good entry points to get back in

I bought Southwest at $9.

Haven't looked at it for a few years and will do so again tonight.

At the time I bought it, I thought it was a $16 stock.
