Just don't let the cost scare you away completely. I took the easy route and went to the law school that gave me a full ride, and I regret it.

Are all non-Tax LLM's worthless as they say?

Sorry for the small hi-jack, Ocean.

I didn't get into all three. Just trying to keep this anon as possible. I figure all three schools are pretty much on the same level (NYU > the other two if you really want to work in the Northeast).

Oh. I gotcha. Well, they are all wonderful programs (obviously). Personally, just because of the areas and markets, I would say:

NYU
Georgetown
UF

Just because of the ease of networking and meeting new people. The experience alone would be worth it, imo.

One of my best friends just finished UF also, might be the same guy he is talking about idk. He mentioned to me that he felt like it was the same workload as his 3rd year of law school. He mentioned the 1st semester was harder than the 2nd. I think he really liked the fact that it was a highly respected school for the degree but it was way cheaper than NYU.

He passed his bar in between law school and LLM which really helped so he didn't have to study while in LLM classes. Also he got a job in the industry very early in the LLM program like first couple months. Thought the program was great at job placement within both industry jobs and Public Accounting Firms.

Let me know if you have any specific questions and I will reach out to him.

Could you ask him what's the best route to try and get in with the IRS?
Current openings at the IRS LINK Doesn't look promising.

Definitely go to NYU and get it. We have two NYU tax LLM guys in our office and they were outstanding right out of school. Great foundation and we pay well for NYU LLMs.

I don't know from personal experience, but people that have been through it have told me you're not limited to the northeast. NYU will give you very good access to national and international firms/companies. It's costly, but it sounds like a great opportunity not too many people enjoy.

That's what other lawyers who have been through it have told me, so please give it very little weight.
