I am about to make some flights to california and was hoping to see which might be the best deal. Right now, Chase Sapp Pref is offering 40K bonus points and no signup fee for first year. However, we fly to California at least twice a year (no certain airline preferred) but usually its Southwest because of the better deals. Southwest has a good offer too but 99 a year applies immediately.

I will spend 1500 on these tickets which puts me halfway to the bonus on Southwest (50K points) and only a certain part (50K bonus but must spend 4K in 3 months) on Chase Sapp Pref.

Should I just bite the bullet and get the Southwest card since I will be flying Southwest in the next month?

Credit card thread. Read my last post there and you'll know which one to get first.

Didn't help that much. I haven't applied for one in a decade but keep getting the sapp pref and southwest offers constantly. Chase pref is a 4k within 3 months for 40k and southwest is 3k within 3 months for 50k miles but a 99 immediate charge. I will research some more. Thanks for the input.

CSP. You can transfer rewards from chase to southwest through the ultimate rewards portal. Main reason I ditched the southwest card. Offers more flexibility.

Just noticed the 50K applies when you spend 2K on the southwest card which I will get immediately as well as points for balance transfers as well. I think I might call each one and see what I can do. The Southwest card is 69 a year which might be beneficial since I can use the points to fly back out in December.

For the CSP, 4K in the 3 months might be a stretch during this time. Im also gonna ask if they will throw in something to add a user.

I love the Southwest card. If worked correctly, 50k points will get you at least 4 free flights.

Additionally, their rewards program is fantastic. I've probably taken 14 free Southwest flights in the past year.

The CC also gets you halfway to companion pass, meaning you can bring a guest on any flight you are on for free.

Yeah if you hit 110,000 points you get the companion pass. My son flew free with my wife everywhere

I agree. It was always good but ever since they switched from credits to actual points I take 4-5 free flights for everyone 1 pay for.

On Flight American was offering 50k Citi card with ZERO spend and $50 annual.

It was ridiculous. I'm trying to build mine right now or I would have jumped all over it.
