It's worth less than $17 but I know you won't get any today at $17,I'll let them inflate it to the stratosphere like go pro and grab some short

Lol is snapchat Google? Can Snapchat be the central nervous system of the world and become a verb? It's taking and sharing pics lol google revolutionized how data is mined and organized. Snapchat has about 98% chance of not revolutionizing the world at this point imo, possibly even higher.

I'd say 99.9%. Snapchat is easily replaceable by any of the major social media networks.

I think people forget how trash search engines were before google: altavista, askjeeves, lycos and google was actually good and organized and got better by the day. I just can't see snap getting more users at some point I'll say age 35 or 30 you quit caring what your friends are for dinner and all the other nonsense they do in their lives. I'm 36 and have no social media so I'm biased but I deleted years back when Facebook turned into a place everyone would just brag about their kids and my give a damn meter crashed.

no, that stock will tank fast since the target demographic (teenagers) have no money...what made facebook more attractive is that they got adults to start using it which was key for advertisers

I don't like its long term viability, but I think it's good for a short term run. I rode GPRO up to 80 and VJET up to 60. Both are worthless now, but thanks for the quick cash.

Whatever happens today and tomorrow, I think it's good for a run in the next month or two.

Generally speaking, this board isn't great when it comes to fast moving tech plays. Posters are generally a bit older and from smaller cities in the US (including BR in that description).

The real answer is that no one really knows what will happen because this kind of business model has never existed at this scale. SNAP has great penetration with young demos but no one knows whether it will be a fad that stays or if it is hot for a couple more years before fading into oblivion.

Evan is going public at the right time as Snapchat is definitely at an all time high in terms of its usage and brand. I just think it is unpredictable long-term when consumer interest can change rapidly in months and not years.

Now that you've insulted the majority of posters, please give me your bullish thesis on Snapchat. Sure the user base will rise as younger people age but at what point is Snapchat still cool? I'm 36 I'd be embarrassed to tell my guy friends hold on while I take a snap. I have an 22 year old niece and she's always taking selfies and snapping them to her friends and that's fine I guess but grownups don't really do that, or so I hope. Snapchat and twitter are niche imo while Facebook you reconnect with long lost friends, my parents are over 70 and are always on it to keep up with friends. I just don't see older people on twitter or Snapchat. I'm a believer in Amazon, tesla, Facebook as growth stories so I'm not in the whole P/E ratio small country town group you just alienated but I still think at $25b Snapchat is not worth it in the long run.

Not how Facebook makes money.

Snap has the advantage of a much higher volume of pictures, almost all of which are taken by phones - in which case the picture location is embedded in the code - and a very good mechanism for determining how the person feels about where they are and what they're doing.

Snap is almost a different form of communication, and an international one at that. With all of the above measurables, I think they have a lot of potential.

But again, I'm not going to allow my long term position to live or die at the whim of 14 year old girls and their internet habits. I think it can run pretty high in the short term.

I enjoy Thursday IPO's, especially in this sector in recent years. If it holds fast today and tomorrow, Monday will be a very big day. It's surviving the early investor, incremental selloffs pretty well so far.

First The user base loves the discretion this type of communication gives. You don't get that anywhere else in today's social media field. The average daily user spends 30 minutes on snapchat. 30! That is room for dynamic growth if they can find a way to capitalize that time. They know this and have multiple future streams of revenue they have been working on. One includes a snapchat shop in essence allowing you to buy from the adds right away, this coupled with snapcash could greatly increase revenue.

Tech companies with insanely high valuations not supported by anything other than growth projections and dreams. Where have we seen this before?

Instagram has copied and implemented everything snap does so why have both? Long term I don't see the draw of snap for advertisers. I just don't see how it can have sustained user growth but we will see. I just think it was the right time for the owner to cash in.
