CXW will bounce back up. Most of their business is with local and state governments.

I can't believe there are for-profit prisons. I mean what are their upper level meetings like? "2016 was a good year but 2017 will be even better. Rape and murder are projecting to increase by 20%!"

Actually it's probably more along the lines of "We were able to secure contracts with the governments of this and that to maintain their medium-security correctional facilities." or some such.

The ones that are just providing people are really just body shops anyway, they make a percentage profit on each guard or some such. When business is bad, they just do layoffs. When it's good, they hire.

I have been a part of the prison industry it is actually one of the things government does better than private companies. Most privately run prisons have huge issues with employee retention, higher levels of violence, and just overall shitty conditions.

You'd be sickened by what you'll learn if look into the prison lobbyists.

I know a ton of these contracts have clauses where the state has a minimum occupancy rate which means they get paid regardless of crime levels/incarceration rate

They also make their money on treating prisoners like garbage. I'm not saying it should be a resort, but I don't think non violent criminals should be getting moldy expired meat/milk to save 5cents a day

They also make a fortune on inmate phone calls and commissary items. The new thing is inmate email. They allow inmates to email people on their visitation lists and charge for outgoing mail like .25 for each email sent. Most of the email is screened by someone at the prison before its actually sent.

BTW CXW is already back up 11% this morning . I knew it was a buy I got in at 17.57 at the open.
