Search on NAPFA.org for a fee-only advisor/planner in that area. A quick search showed me 7 in that area. I would generally trust objective, non-commissioned advice from these advisors.

Alan Knight at Raymond James in Slidell handles my dad's portfolio and is awesome. I cannot recommend him enough if someone is not wanting or capable of managing it themselves. He lives in Mandeville (I think).

We use Montz Harcus out of New Orleans. Communication is key and they are great at it.

I’ll second the fee only RIA advisor recommendation. If they are affiliated with a broker dealer they make money off of sales. There are good brokers but just be aware of the potential conflict of interest.

Bump one last time since he is finally seeing the light an interested in making a change. I guess a 20% loss since retirement at the beginning of the year will do that.

I’m a financial professional (not an advisor). I’m my opinion, Jason Appe is the best on the Northshore. And all of metro NOLA IMO.
If it were me and I lived in the area, would definitely choose him.
He works for JP Morgan private client services for 20+ years.
