Quantum Computing

AI has taken off. To my understanding, AI will eventually surpass our modern PC's and their hardware, and quantum computing will eventually be the hardware that will be able to support AI's software to the fullest. Does anyone have a better understanding on quantum computing? I am definitely no expert on the topic, but find it very interesting. Nothing major, but I have recently jumped into IONQ, QUBT, QTUM (ETF).

both my daughters wrote papers on it for their masters in App math. I couldn't tell you the first thing about it except what I've read on the internets. supposedly could render secure codes useless. or not.

QC is interesting in theory, not very useful in application. Shor's algorithm is about the only practical example of what QC can do better than classical computing, and that's with hundreds of really smart people thinking about QC for the past 40 years.
I subscribe to Feynman's opinion that QC is only better than classical computing for simulating a quantum system. We are decades away from anything practical coming out of QC. All of the QC "breakthroughs" that have been announced by the likes of IBM and Google have been recreated on classical computers with similar times.

I don't know if it's a conspiracy or not. But I think these layoffs from the big tech are directly linked to AI. Don't know if that has anything to do with quantum computing.
I expect with all the trimmings, earnings for these company's will climb higher.

They are funny looking contraptions.
