I know their are a lot of CPAs on here. What tax software do you or your firm use?
Also, is there a program you would recommend for a single preparer looking to start up a tax prep practice?

It's been several years, but the firm I used to work for used ProSystem fx. I don't have experience with any other professional level programs, so I wouldn't be able to give a recommendation over anything else, but it did the job without causing any major problems.

Thanks for responding.
I've looked a little at this one and even though it mentions small practices on it, they don't advertise the price so I've assumed it's on the more expensive end.
I've read some articles and surveys comparing the more popular ones. So far I'm leaning towards Drake. It seems that people like it for the price as well as the ease of use. Both of which sound perfect for someone just starting up a business.
I know we have a number of CPA/Accountants on here. I was hoping to get a few bites for recommendations or horror stories.

Just be sure to get one that pays you $$$ from every refund advance or nonout of pocket expense product your people sell.
Huge back end potential.

It's been 10+ years since I've been out of public but we used Lacerte for individual taxes and prosystem trial balance for business taxes. I did corporate and really liked prosystem once I got the hang of it.
