sure

sure but we don't weight the others. And that reminds me: for the 10 and 30 year averages, can you use the return vs % (ie 1.03 vs 3%) to eliminate major error fluctuations it causes or would that take too much away from it's prediction?

say the rate goes from 1.7% to 3%. Well that about an ~80% change in the rate. I'm sure people chose everything in between and maybe a bit more so it's going to be a big difference, but the actual difference that change makes isn't that big. The rate difference actually only mean 1.017 vs 1.03 which is just ~1.3% change. But maybe this is too small... i probably have better things to be doing right now... never mind...

I understand now. Thanks for the explanation.

I'd prefer to use the numbers shown on the CNBC website and they show the yield %.

But you're right in that for this year the % change has been pretty high. As of this minute, the 10 YR yield has increased 41% over the 12/31/12 yield, from 1.761% to 3.002%.

Here are the beginning of year (1/1/13) and end of year (12/31/13) indices and prices as of 3:30 PM as shown on CNBC U.S. Markets Page. Some of the commodity prices will continue to change slightly for a while this afternoon, but I had to cut it off somewhere so I chose 3:30 PM.

Everyone please check my numbers to make sure I've input the prices and indices correctly.

Boy when you look at how well the markets as a whole did, it really brings you back to reality on your individual stock purchases...

It sure does.

2013 has to go down as one of the best years ever for equities. I'm sure we'll hear a lot about that from the talking heads on CNBC over the next few days.

Look at gold and silver.

Of course I had no way of knowing the exact NG price, but I knew it was going up and still pulled out of my NG plays like CHK in the 1st quarter of the year.
