Do Pharma sales people have a hard time adjusting to the actual process of closing a deal? My recent experience with people coming from Pharma to jobs that require a actual closing seem to reflect this a bit.

Most of the pharma sales people I know are hot and have big tits.

I think that does the closing for them.

So you think that transfers well to industrial or technological sales?

I think that would have to be decided on a case by case basis.

But are you meaning the part where the sales person clamps down and does the "do I have your commitment on this?" part?

Pharma "sales" people are order takers.

Physical Pharma sales reps have been on the decline for the better half of two decades.

This. It's heyday is long gone, it peaked in the mid 90's.

I wouldn't hire a pharma rep that had to close a deal - too risky, especially wit the available talent on the street these days. If they start in pharma and prove themselves in another market, that's a different story.

They are not sales people at all.

Pharma sales can be thought of as a branch of marketing and not sales.

The pharma "sales" people that come in my office are delivery people, essentially. They stock my sample closet, have one of my docs sign their iPad, then GTFO. There is no "sale" occuring.

The exception is the coupounding pharmacy reps. They are actually salesman, b/c they have shite tons of competition.
