Old beater car just crapped out on me for good. Going to take my wife's CRV and wanted to look at Pilots. Anything to look for as far as new vs used, 2016 vs 2017, best model for value, price guidelines? Price range 30-40k I guess, obviously would prefer to be on lower end of that.

Would check on new, used prices are at an all time high in the BR area due to the flood.

You should look at the Highlander also. There should be some great deals on the remaining 2016 ones. We bought a 2016 last December. Rides great, the third row is a little tight, but can fit three small adults. If you have two car seats like us, you will need the captain chairs in the middle row. Unfortunately, the Pilot only offers that feature on the Elite trim, unless they have changed since last year.

I have a 2016 pilot touring. Highly recommend this vehicle. Powerful engine, comfortable seats and ride. Lots of room inside and drives well. Only real complaint is the infotainment system which is pitiful for where technology is today. The honda sense system is useful and intuitive. I don't think they are discounting them much but the pilot holds its value better than most.

You think it's worth the difference to go from EX-L to Touring?

I was going to get an EX-L but the pricing on both the 2016 and 2017 was just too rigid for me to pull the trigger. It is too new and apparently pretty popular. So I decided to lease a small luxury car for my wife, keep driving my old 2005 Pilot, and get a new Pilot in a year or so when the model refresh has lost its luster.
