How uncommon is it for BO employees to make the transition to non-sales FO positions? Any specific roles in ops I should gravitate towards or others I should avoid entirely so as to not get pigeonholed?

I graduated from a non-target school in accounting, so I'm looking into roads less traveled for entry points. WSO looks down on ops positions, but they shite on everything.

Anyone? I'm talking with a GS recruiter tomorrow and sort of at a loss since there isn't a ton of info available online.

I know a few that leveraged back office jobs at BB to front office positions at boutiques and other small firms thanks to the name recognition of the BB and an MBA from a top 25 in between. It is extremely unlikely you'll to be able to jump back to front at a BB.

I figured chances are extremely slim other than for some no name boutiques. Hoping to end up in Houston for work soon and maybe obtain a Rice or UT-Houston pMBA if I can't break into anything worthwhile before then.

Working for those firms in a back office role is still rewarding and the opportunity is still better than most.

Good luck.
