Is there a way that you could run the price of the truck that I want to buy? From everything that I can tell, its a good deal but confirmation would be nice.

LSU81, They haven't gotten back to me yet.

Perfect, My dad wants to get rid of his dually and I am finding myself needing a larger truck more and more so its not a need yet, but it will be nice.

Can you post a link showing the new truck?
With VIN and all?

Thats weird, I could have swore you got an instant "We'd value your trade at between X and X, but will need a final inspection to determine exact price"

The price they are advertising is fair. Of course Im biased because I am a dealer and I know money needs to be made...no shock there.

But...you have a little room to play; If you purchase out right. I'd say given the market, they're cutoff would be around 42k. This may drop a little with the arrivals of 15's...but not worth waiting and missing out on. If its the truck you want, and they have it...go for it.

How much is a 2012 FX2 F150 5.0 with 30k miles in your area

I'd say roughly 23,900 to 24,800.00

Then again...if you find someone with rebates; they could apply that to the trade and look like heros. Hard to say.

Thanks for the advice. It looks like I highballed him with my trade. I will call him. Back to start the negotiations again.

Lsu, nothing yet. If still noting by 12, I'll call.

I feel they may be able to do a little better on your trade...if they are that much lower than BR.

But...Ford is the number one truck in South La. Very easy to move them. That may not be the case there.

Maybe see if a dealer in BR will buy it outright from you.

Ouch, cheapest one on Autotrader is like $32k. Guess someone is making some money

I'll travel across LA to sell it. Do you have any recommendations? Comparable trucks sell for 35.5k online and that's without the 6.2. I'd love to get 34k.

That's not the same as trade in. That convenience has a price.

You were asking purchase price or trade in?

Trade. That's just a mighty big spread. Not one I'd be comfortable with. Outside of anything else, I'd look for around $27k trade in.

35.5k, then of course everyone wants a discount so lets say 34k. They'll buy your truck for 30k and take the risk of selling it. Of course you can take the risk and sell it at your convenience...but risk factor is what costs you. If you can get anywhere near 30.5k for your trade; take it.

Got you.

I may have mis-put some info. I don't deal with trucks too often so forgive my mistake. Looking at it now...27k is reachable.

Lunch, this is a reply to you too.

I just didn't realize that there was so much markup in the trade in. I figured they made a couple grand, maybe. Didn't realize that for them to sell it at 35, they had to pay under 31. Thanks to both for all the help.

You have to remember they're usually not going to sell at the price they advertise at as well. They leave wiggle room so you feel like you get a good deal.

Yeah that I'm seeing. Most dealerships knock off $500 or so with no problem. I haven't gotten a chance to really start negotiating their truck yet but they seem to be holding firm.

He initially came back with a 13k difference, 43 sell 30 trade. I countered with 8k difference, 42 sell 34 trade. He said no and I said thanks and bye.

I would be okay with a 10k difference. 42 sell 32 buy.

Am I wasting his and my time?

42 buy and 30 trade is where I can see them being.
