Good luck on the journey into the medical field, man. It's a long, exhausting, financially difficult trek.

My best advice is to educate yourself now, as best you can, on business/finances. Bc 7-12 years from now you'll be done medical training and won't ever have received one hour a financial training.

I agree with most of the points already made.

Medical school is overwhelming in terms of personal time. You do not want the headache of calling the HVAC guy and getting 3 bids on a roof repair after a storm.

Rent.

Do not buy.

Don't buy unless you think you'll be staying in Shreveport for residency (doubtful that's something you'd know at this point). You're not going to want to deal with the chores of being a homeowner during first year.

Not to mention, unless you're familiar with Shreveport, you'll be better off renting for a year to get a better idea for where to buy.

Urology, but ended up in my ideal program. Great surgical training without a lot of bs.
