Maternity Insurance Question

With the insurance provided through my wife's current employer she doesn't have access to the hospital that she would like to use in the event of a pregnancy. We are looking at our options, such as switching her to my insurance, other insurance in the market, paying cash, etc.
I found this old conversation from the board discussing paying in cash and it looks like for an uncomplicated pregnancy the cost could run $10K to $15K, so I don't think that is a good option.
Could she add on an additional maternity coverage that covers the Dr/Hospital that she wants while still keeping the insurance provided through her employer?
I was wondering if "doubling up" on insurance is a valid option. If not, are there any other suggestions for covering maternity expenses and being able to use the hospital of your choice? I've read some of the recent threads regarding the ACA marketplace plans and it sounds pretty terrible.

What is the coverage if you go out of network? And I would guess the doubling up option would depend on the cost. I'd look to see what adding her to your policy is if your company allows that. I'm reading that some companies won't cover a spouse if said spouse has an option for coverage at her company.
What are the hospitals covered in BR?? We've been gone a LONG time but at the time only Woman's and BRG did deliveries. Can't believe they're both not on the list??

I believe that its either 60/40 or 40/60, but when she called the hospital and/or her insurer she was told that they wouldn't cover any of it.
With doubling up, I wasn't sure if that was an allowed move, or if perhaps she could just sign up somewhere for additional maternity coverage instead of a comprehensive health insurance policy. I'm waiting to hear back on what the cost would be of adding her to my policy and any associated fees/charges.
As far as the hospitals who do deliveries, lets just say that she is employed by one of them and that the insurance doesn't cover deliveries at its competitor.

Another thing to consider or question to ask is how they submit the bills- our children were born in January and May, and one nice thing that BCBS did was to hold all maternity bills until the delivery so we wouldn't have to meet deductibles in 2 calendar years. That was a huge benefit- one of few with BCBS

Just tell her to have the kid at Baton Rouge General...it'll be fine...making that assumption based on personal experiences with my wife's insurance
