Switched to Farmer's.

My rental property was getting me an income of -$9 after Alfa hiked up my rates. In addition to switching for the property, my car insurance went down $240 as well.

It's been a good week. Cut the cord and saved $70 per month. Rolled that into my wife's student loan ($3400 remaining, can apply for interest forgiveness) and knocked off a few months. Had some extra cash due to side income and knocked out the remaining $225 on my Discover card.

Next step is the student loan (9 more months) and a Citi card ($1200 - probably six more months...maybe less) and then I will be 100% debt free outside of a mortgage payment.

So is being debt free is what's tempting you into borrowing 70k to get a PhD? Lol.

Ha. Actually it's what's tempting me to even consider going back into the classroom.

Plenty of Ed jobs that are not direct instruction in the classroom. Idealist.org has at least six or so in the NO area alone...recruiting teachers for charter schools, prof Dev team leader for a teacher training nonprofit, director of school support for a different nonprofit, etc.

I wonder how much those kind of jobs pay. That is intriguing though.
