Expanding my career search to the BR area. I guess I could live with commuting from Laffy instead of wasting away in O&G forever.

What are some companies hiring right now? Just got my MBA and looking for anything from operations mgmt, project mgmt, or business analyst. Not familiar with the job market out there and just want to start looking in the right places.

If you can't relocate I wouldn't even look. You'll be ready to off yourself within 6 months from the commute.

BIL will also be doing the commute. Would look into a small apartment to split if it came to that

Why stay in La? You've got you're MBA. Leave the nest.

Are you willing to relocate to California?

A posting for my company goes live on LSU's website next week.

If you're dead set on it, I would at least look at Turner. They are probably the best company around BR for something like that. As others have said, though, relocating could really expand your horizons and pocket book.

Wouldn't mind relocating personally but my son is here and my fiancée has too much family to leave. I'm opening up to commuting anywhere from LC to BR. If the hunt gets bad enough I might be able to convince the fiancée.
But I absolutely understand the benefit in opening up to relocating. Wish it was an option.

I did the Laffy to BR commute for a year and a half. It was miserable. Once a week or so you'll be either getting to work or home a few hours late.

An MBA in Louisiana is a waste of money no matter what industry you are in. Time to move to a big city.

I wouldn't say it's a waste, per se. I do feel it isn't as valuable in LA compared with a larger metro area.

When I think MBA I think corporate, besides Turner and a couple other companies I cant think of any that are headquartered in LA.

Maybe I should say that's my goal if I go for my MBA.

You're thinking too "in the box". There are plenty healthcare organizations here in Louisiana, and if you want an administration role in those you will need an MBA or MHA.

Also, oil field service companies hire MBAs for operations management

Don't commute. Just visit your friends in Lafayette on weekends or something but 5 days a week will destroy your soul and car on that shitty interstate
