Does anyone remember that goofy stand in the parking lot at Perkins and Acadian that would sell coffee, and the baristas wore bikinis? BR wasn't ready for that one

I actually have a snowball trailer and all of the equipment, name etc. but we put it on hold a few years back because we could not find a good place to put it. No one who owned a parking lot wanted to rent us the space or they wanted a HUGE amount of money per month. So we gave up on the idea and wasted 20k on the investment though we will keep all of the stuff in storage and give it to my kids for a summer business later in life.

Unless of course you people know how to negotiate snowball stand parking lot agreements then I'm all ears.

I too have recently stumbled across the idea of going mobile with a snow cone stand. I am nervous to pursue. I live in a town that the population is around 10k people. I have went as far to look at a truck this past weekend. Truck was previously an ice cream truck. Rebuilt engine has approx. 20k miles on it. I am nervous about having enough business to sustain. Currently, my town does not have a mobile snow cone unit. However, it does have three snow cone stands...What licenses are required? City approval necessary? Truck was around $7000. Fully equipped. What other expenses besides supply should I know about?

Don't know about Dallas, but my mom moved to Atlanta in the mid 90's and found a place there that had one. They went out of business at somepoint, so I think this is just a Nola thing, but again I don't know Dallas. I know they have sno cones in CA, but outside of that don't know much. Would make sense to me, but I am born and raised in Nola.

In theory, it sounds like a good idea. Dallas is hot much of the year and if you get in an affluent area like West Plano, Preston Hollow, Park Cities etc. there is a lot of disposable income. Those people pay $5 for a cupcake, I'm sure they'd pay $5.00 for a small snowball, BUT do they want New Orleans style snowballs or are they happy with caramel machiatto's or whatever from Starbucks? I don't know.
Probably a niche market there somewhere.

An acquaintance of mine opened up a snow ball stand in Santa Rosa beach area this summer. He's doing really well, but most of the beach goers are probably from Nola

Guy here on the lake started an "Ice Cream Boat" he rides around in a pontoon blaring the ice cream truck jingle. Charges $3 each and passes them over to your boat with a long handled dip net.

All the kids go nuts when he pulls around the bend so I imagine he does pretty good business on the weekends.
