todays sign they have peaked: Just overheard my co-worker/officemate saying that she wants to take her roll over from her old 401K and invest in bitcoins.

What makes it really bad is, I work in the asset management group for a small investment bank in NYC. co-worker is studying for CFA level 3.

There was a thread on the OT asking how mining it worked started by some random poster who probably never sees Wiki's posts. Another possible sign. (No offense to Wiki)

This link to a btc exchange that allows shorting was posted in a bitcoin thread on the Poli Board.

Caveat Emptor

I would love to short bitcoin. But if you read the background information of the company in the link you will see that they have been in operation going all the way back to......................................last Tuesday.

And they have a staff consisting of ONE employee, including the founder. But they DO have 3 contractors working for them!

No kidding!

I won't be sending them any of my money to open an account.

Is there any way I can short the value of a CFA?

they own nearly 1 percent of that, or some $11 million.
If that's true and if they haven't sold their btc, then they've lost approximately $8 million since yesterday morning. Bitcoin has lost almost 80% of its value since yesterday morning.

I feel that the upside volatility's too high to consider shorting bit coins at the moment. We need to set up a derivatives market for these bitcoins.

I think they've been mentioned everyday on Bloomberg TV for the past week or so. We now have FOREX strategists from bulge bracket banks, VCs (Peter Thiel, Andreessen Horowitz, etc.), and other big players pumping their status.

I like this. We can short by getting long puts.

C'mon.....if you can't laugh at that, you take yourself wayyyyy too seriously.

I know you know how to spell it. The juxtaposition of "Ivy League" and a misspelled word was worthy of a little chuckle.
