Recently received a notice that state farm was dropping my auto insurance due to having too many teenage drivers. As a result of that, I'll also be moving my homeowner's as well. The problem is, progressive will write both auto and homeowners but the homeowners specifically excluded wind and hail. They suggest contacting the LA citizens insurance group (the insurer of last resort). Is this a separate wind/hail policy and what's the typical cost on a 250-300k home? Can't seem to find much info on this. TIA

A lot of carriers want Louisiana property right now and rates are going down. You should contact an independent agent to shop them for the best terms.

Where are you located?

Agreed, I'm in BR and recently went this route. Saving 700 a year, and have $1000 deductible for everything except named storm. House is worth 300-350k

I would strongly advise you to keep this bundled with the homeowners

Wind/Hail policies are real expensive through the State. Try and find another company that will write all of the homeowners policy.

That's what i figured. I'm guessing the discount for bundling home and auto with Progressive is really not going to be worth keeping when compared to a separate wind/hail policy.
