What are some neighborhoods in the baton rouge area that are building homes in the $200-300k range?
I just put my condo on the market and i'm looking to build something after my condo sells.
Trying to get a list of areas I should check.

The houses off Burbank. They can go from 170-330k. There is new construction that is at the very beginning on old Hammond between Jefferson and airline. They will probably go for 300k or more. Not looking for new construction you have good wood, kinnelworth, and the garden district.

You do realize that the market is going to be extremely tight for the next 6 months or so, correct?

No way I'd be buying in this market, unless it hasn't gone crazy yet. If you can find something that hasn't increased in price since the storm, then more power to you. It took several months for the market in Slidell to increase after Katrina, but houses in my neighborhood jumped $100K (around 25%-35%) and stayed that way for at least a couple years, then came right back down.

We have been looking and all the builders have not changed price or incentives. Several dropped prices 10k in July and are still going with the lower prices. Houses will be ready in 1 to 5 months.

I would stay away from builders that tell you they will be done in a month or 2 - most quality homes take longer than that and with the current situation I would be expecting delays from any reputable builder.
