So I'm just getting into stock trading. How reliable are 1 year target estimates? I'm looking at WATT that closed at $5.84 yesterday and has a 1 year target estimate of $16.40 according to YAHOO Finance. I've found a few other 1 year target estimates for this stock and the lowest one is around $12.00.
If these estimates are anywhere close to reliable, then why would should I not try my luck on this stock?

If they were reliable we would all be rich.

A lot of that is pump and dump hype.
Try to talk to long-term traders if you can find some good ones.

Check the history of the stock analyst's recommendations on the company. Only about 10% to 20% of analysts are worth their salt. Remember Sell-Side analyst's price target estimates are meant to drive trading volume for the desk of the firm they represent. As a result, Sell-Side analysts are always out selling: it's always a good time to buy.
