It's not me. This woman in my life who I don't know if I want to see anymore wants to borrow $2,000 from me to get started in mary kay because that's the amount you need to get started to make money.

I've read you can do it for lot less. So can you get started with 400 or so to see if you can do it.

I'm tempted to give her $400.00 or maybe a little bit more and tell her to have a good life.

How about give her nothing and just move on. I can't be with a woman who makes shitty multi level marketing decisions. And God forbid if you do and actually keep her, you'll have to hear sales pitch after sales pitch.

I would rather eat a bullet

If you want to make a gift, make a gift. Don't make a loan to someone you are romantically involved with. Bad, bad, bad, bad idea to do that loan.

If you want to give her the money, just give her the money.

My wife has done 2 MLM things in her life (against my wishes) and both of them were the same (but neither was Mary Kay) so I'm guessing a lot of the things are similar.

Basically, you buy a "starter" kit - which has a bunch of stuff, and you then buy inventory. You do these stupid parties. You need samples and giveaways for these parties. Then, you sell stuff. When you sell stuff, one or two things happens:

1) You have the stuff in your possession, so they give you money, you give them stuff, and life goes on.

2) You don't have what they need, so they give you money, and you order the stuff, get it in, and give it to them.

What both of these fine (LOL) organizations told my wife was that if you have the stuff on you, you are more likely to make the sale, so, they encourage you to buy a bunch of inventory.

That would be my guess for the price difference. $400 probably buys the starter kit, the rest is inventory and give aways.

Plus, she will need to market herself, so there is a cost for that - business cards, a website, etc.

Why would you give her the money and tell her to have a good life.

Two options:

1. Give her the money and keep her around.
2. Tell her to hit the bricks.

She says she needs $2000.00 and it's because the woman who is trying to recruit her says that you need to buy inventory and you'll make more money.

I'm willing to give her the $116.00 for the starter kit and maybe a little bit more to get her started and say have a good life.

I don't get why you are giving her money if you are wanting to seperate from her. Are you expecting the money will make it easier for you?

this sounds fishy

she's either really good in bed or you haven't slept with her yet but want to but part of you knows that she will cling to you like a cuckle burr afterwards. Listen to that part of you.

no money

wish her luck

tell her to GTFO

go out and bang a rando

Yeah, that's pretty strange. Does she not have/can't get $116? Is that amount of money really going to change her life? If she can't scrape that together for her new venture, then maybe she should rethink the entire thing.

So she wants to do this but doesn't want to contribute any of her own money to the cause?

If you want to help her (and we'll leave that open for discussion) this is what I would do.

Tell her that you will match whatever money she puts up, until you reach a certain amount. Say $500.

So she spends $500 of her own money and buys stuff.

You then write a check TO MARY KAY for $500 and order $500 of stuff.

If she can't put up any of her own money into this deal, that's a clear sign this thing is a bad, bad idea.

She's asking for $2,000. $116 is not going to make her well off.

Every chick I know that has done Mary Kay is out within the year. Don't give her a dime and talk some sense into her.

Yeah, I don't think it would work. She has this idea that she'll have new cars in six months if I only loaned her $2000.00. My secretary has a friend who sells Mary Kay and she started with only 116.00 and she uses the money supplement her income which is what it should be but she thinks this is her ticket to self-sufficiency and her career. She hasn't had a job in 5 months and doesn't seem like she wants to get one.

If she had what it took to be successful at anything, she would be. Of course, the liberal in you should be begging to throw money at her, but apparently you are much more judicious with your money than that of the American taxpayer.

Give her nothing.

Mary Kay is an old ladies brand. Customer base is dying out.

Young women with $ are flocking to Ulta Salon.
My husband went there with me last week end and he was shocked at the lines.
