Permanently enter? That’s a bit overstated, wouldn’t you agree?

Metairie* and no I don’t think it’s overstated. I think it’s been on the horizon anyway and covid has just sped up the era. It’s cheaper for people not to lease commercial space, and I’d be willing to bet some industries realized they could make the same amount of money/get as much work done from home without the overhead of leasing space.

Alright Mr. Perfect thanks for you’re input.

What about salespeople throughout the country? Are they just going to work from home and do Zoom meetings indefinitely and never see someone in person again?

When the bars are closed and there are no festivals Nola loses its charm quickly.

A lot will yes
Why would a company need to have large overhead of offices when ppl can do the same job at home

Never said that. I said certain industries, and I also said commute 1-2 times a week. It is entirely plausible and likely imo that the workspace will shrink and I think turn in to a community space. Big 4 accounting firms already do this. In my opinion, because it is likely people will be going in to the office so much less, it will drive people to look outside of Orleans Parish.

Although I know several salesman who completely work from home now and who’s companies have told them to stay at home.

Also, if you can do your job on zoom and it costs your company less, I guarantee they don’t care if you ever are face to face with a client again.

it will also drive a lot of people in ohio and kansas and iowa to move to nola short term -- if you can work anywhere, youre going to choose cool cities, not suburbs.

imo, the short term rental market in nola will explode once things get back to normal

Interesting. A lot of sales calls and relationships have been built in person regardless of industry for decades now. I just don’t see this happening.

If this holds true, airlines and hotels are going to be devastated. Think of all the Monday thru Thursday business travel throughout the country. I just don’t see this happening.

What's your range? We live Uptown and will be selling soon. We're in a 3/3 with 2700 sq ft. 70115

You’re going to be out of our price range at that sq ft in 70115. We live in 70115 at the moment. Pre-approved for 550k. Fiancée is in real estate and can do entire transaction off-market so no commissions fwiw.

I agree with this line and it will certainly benefit NO. You have to live somewhere. Believe it or not, Uptown NO is cheap compared to a lot of cool cities especially for anyone relocating from out west or the northeast. A lot of the cons listed apply to most cities as well. The Tulane and Loyola student issue could very impactful.

NO also doesn’t have large scale home builders dumping a bunch of inventory intro he market either.

I think this is a realistic thing to consider. If your company realizes or has realized that you can get your job done effectively without them having to pay more, why would they say “ok let’s get you back to flying across the country and let’s renew this commercial lease that’s one of our highest overhead costs.”

I’m not claiming this to be scripture. But as I look to buy a home it’s something I’m considering, especially in New Orleans who’s economy is service and tourist centric, who has incompetent leadership, and who will make up for losses with increased property tax.

I’m an agent and I’m 100% truthful with clients letting them know I wouldn’t touch New Orleans with a 10’ pole. I understand paying higher taxes in the city, but you get absolutely no benefit from the higher taxes. Not to mention my friends in Orleans spend more for a month of water/sewer service than I do for 2.

3/3 @ 706 Napoleon but two blocks from Tips, $500k. Prime location for uptown Mardi Gras. Decently updated as well.

There’s also plenty homes in your range in Freret.
