I agree. And it's why the "qualified" obamacare plans are worthless for those who aren't poor enough to be subsidized. The premiums are not cheap, the deductibles are high, co-insurance is high, and networks are highly restricted. There is nothing affordable about them, and they are full of benefits that most buyers will never need.

And Obamacare's definition of "poor" is laughable.

Back when I was self-employed, I was on my wife's insurance. She thought about quitting as my income went up, but when I put our numbers in, it was impossible. I would have been on Obamacare for $600-something a month because at $60k/year with a family, I wasn't poor enough for any subsidies.

Yeah we wouldn't qualify for subsidies I'm quite sure.

And I could look back and see how much they paid out if I really needed to. All I know is that I paid about $700 for each of my knee surgeries so about $1400 total; don't remember what the "allowed" charges were - my portion to equal BCBS pmt. Also have ALL paperwork from my sons wrist but that was 2013 and I don't remember. I was so frazzled that I just paid the bills/appts as they happened and was done with it.

Guess I'm just sticking with what we've got.
