I am buying some state tax credits this year at $.90 on the dollar, but I am wanting to also purchase some federal tax credits to offset my federal tax liability. Does anyone know of the availability of federal tax credits for purchase?

I'm not aware of any federal tax credits that can be transferred/sold in the same manner that state credits are.

Usually what happens with federal credits is that you have people co-invest in deals, such as historic renovations, and then they get the credits form the deal, and use them for their own account.

Now, certainly you could do that... but that requires action on the front end, not on the back end like you can just buy them with state credits.

Also are you buying LA credits? Which ones? Be very careful with film credits.

Thanks for the info - CPA handling State credits, so I am comfortable with that. What about Federal energy credits? Take a look at this site - is this legit? LINK

Yes, the federal tax credits are legit. I'm doing solar installation currently. Not sure if the website is legit, but again, the federal energy tax credits certainly are.

I'm not familiar with that company.

Your company is issued a K1 schedule showing the credits for your taxes.

So basically you are investing in a partnership, that is earning credits based on green energy work.

The partnership did some work that earned credits. They sell the credits, then get the cash to plow into new work, which gives new credits, etc.
