If I have a population of numbers and I want to know which combination of those numbers equals a specific total that is less than the population total, is there a function for that? Example: I have 50 similar numbers and know that 15 of them total to a specific number, but don't know which 15. TIA

Sumif function should get the job done for you.

Sumif won't keep a running tally. I think you're going to need to write a macro (program).
Do you know if there are multiple possible results and do you need all of them or just the first one.
There's better help at MrExcel.com for writing and troubleshooting excel macros.
