My wife and I are about to open a joint account and I was leaning toward just banking with someone who has a lot of branches, but I wanted to see if any locals could recommend a bank or let me know of any hidden gems. Chase is offering up to $250 to open a checking account. I had previously been with OIB in Shreveport forever which was fine because I never really had a reason to visit the bank, but I figured if her and I were going to get a joint account, someone in town would be better. TIA

Almost all of my friends from Dallas bank with Chase, so I am assuming there are a lot of branches there.

I live in Dallas and have been with Campus Federal since 2002. Although they're located in Louisiana you can deposit and withdraw from any sister branch (which is essentially all credit unions). I make all my deposits either online or at the local Credit Union of Texas branch. Additionally, their online banking is easy and they reimburse up to $30 a month in ATM fees incurred.

I would check out Frost Bank, and if you want something a bit more regional... BBVA Compass.
