Read an article today on Memphis meats, a company which grows meat via stem cells from embryos. I've looked around to see if any of these types of companies are owned by a publicly traded company, but haven't had much luck.

With the green movement focusing in on the environmental problems caused by farming, particularly for red meat, I feel that there might be a decent opportunity to get in early. Does the mtb know of any companies which are dabbling with this idea?

dude, people don't even want to buy crops that are sprayed once during the season with weedkiller...are you really thinking they would buy meat from stem cell cultures?

I think if you believe in the laws of scarcity you will see that the price of cultured meat will at some point cross below the price of farm raised meat. And if the technology advances with a relative quickness the price will be substantially lower. We aren't talking about filet mignon here, we are talking more like ground beef. And yes, if the meat is grown organically using natural stem cells, I think a lot of people will buy into it. Of course, most won't care as long as it's cheap.

At least McDonald's is marketed as "100% beef" though.

Dabigfella brought up XON the other day. Look into that, sounds like they have some of this on the horizon. I just don't see the appetite for it yet.
